Breeding dogs is not only about puppies. It is mating dates you cannot mix up, pedigrees you need to remember three generations back, vaccinations, documents, the cost of feed and the vet — and the eternal question of whether the kennel actually pays for itself.
Dog Kennel gathers all of that into one app on your phone. Not a cloud service with a subscription, but an ordinary app that works without internet and keeps the data with you.
Who it is for
Breeders and kennel owners with more than one bitch and at least one litter a year. If you have a single dog and it is simply a beloved pet, the app will be overkill: it is about breeding records, not about walk reminders.
How it differs from a spreadsheet
A spreadsheet does not know that the puppy from the March litter is the very dog you will mate a year later. In the app, animals are linked to each other: a litter consists of puppy cards, each puppy has parents, and those parents have parents of their own. The pedigree builds itself, and finances can be viewed per animal rather than for the whole kennel at once.
What it does
A card for every dog
Photo, name, breed, colour, date of birth, tattoo and chip numbers, documents. Everything usually scattered across paper notes and phone memos, kept in one place.
Pedigree and relations
Enter the sire and the dam, and the app builds the tree of ancestors and descendants itself. You can see who came from whom without redrawing a chart for every litter.
Matings and litters
The pair, the mating date, the expected whelping date and the litter with its puppies. Each puppy immediately becomes a full animal card and stays in the pedigree even after moving to a new owner.
Income and expenses
Puppy sales, stud fees, feed, veterinary care, shows. You can see what the kennel brings in and where the money goes — instead of a vague feeling of being in the black.
Observation journal
Dated notes on a specific animal: seasons, vaccinations, weight, behaviour, treatment. The dog's history builds itself and is not scattered between apps and notebooks.
Statistics with filtering
A summary for the kennel over a period, filtered down to a single animal — how much was spent and earned on that dog specifically.
Breed reference
Useful notes on care, temperament and keeping. It is one section inside the app rather than its purpose — but it is there when you need it.
The data stays yours
Everything is stored on your phone, with no account and no internet. An automatic backup to a folder you choose survives even uninstalling the app.
What it looks like
Frequently asked questions
Does the app need an internet connection?
No. It works fully offline: records, pedigrees and finances are all available without a network. A connection is only needed to display adverts.
What happens to my data if I uninstall the app?
If automatic backup is enabled, a copy of your data sits in the folder you selected and uninstalling does not touch it. After reinstalling, the data is restored from that copy.
Can I move my data to another phone?
Yes, through export: the file with your data is transferred to the new device and imported into the app.
Is there a limit on the number of animals?
No. The only limit is free space on your phone, and records take very little — photos account for most of the space.
Is the app paid?
No, it is free. Development is funded by the adverts built into the app.
Something not working?
Write to us and we will sort it out. The developer answers, not a bot.
